Both false positives and false negatives do occur. In a clinical study, 13% of people without cancer received a positive result and 8% of people with cancer received a negative result.

Cologuard is not for everyone; not for high-risk individuals, including those with a family history of colorectal cancer, a personal history of colorectal cancer or adenomas, IBD, and certain hereditary syndromes. Cologuard is not a replacement for diagnostic colonoscopy. Cologuard results should be interpreted with caution as false positives and false negatives do occur. Cologuard performance in repeat testing has not been evaluated. Rx only.
